The 62nd Catalina should be a big one this year, who going over from Australia ?

    Luke Keys ?
Ray “The Big Himself” Ball ?
    Bub Robbo ?

Let me know guys, should be good !

  6. Harry Hodge
    February 23rd, 2010 @ 12:07 am

Catalina 2010 will be awesome. Im sure there will be plenty of young aussie talent going over to try and mix it with the big boys. Intermediate Men will be the class to watch especially if Ringo Hogben and lukey keys are heading over

  7. wild oats
    February 23rd, 2010 @ 4:38 am

catalina is not daytona harry but ringo is in with a chance if rowdy crews for him from memory rowdy has a big scarab

  8. Geoffry Jones
    February 23rd, 2010 @ 7:21 am

if ringo wants to do well he should just keep off this piss for once

  9. Shayne King
    February 23rd, 2010 @ 11:09 am

Well i heard that James “Ringo” Hogben has been offerd a 43ft Outerlimits with twin 1075 Mercs.

Also with the man himself “Rowdy Burns” Observing Ringo could be looking at a record.

    Good Luck Mate !

    February 23rd, 2010 @ 11:34 am

heard ringo is running behind a 42 nordic with col doing the driving and big kyle is the man for him to go top 5 overall, you know ringo that you will have your freckle pulled out of you.

go team chief for catalina 2010

    2. Ray Ball

  12. Allain
    February 23rd, 2010 @ 9:46 pm

I put my money on Cameron King , he’s gonna win intermediate as long as his taping is good

  13. Shayne King
    February 24th, 2010 @ 12:23 am

i put my money on Craig Gordan. that boy can ski…hopefully he will do it without the fall this year.

  15. Franklin B
    February 24th, 2010 @ 8:04 am

I think you guys are ruling out Brady Hoggins defineatley the class favorite to win since he has the most expierience and this is his race

  16. Bolt Speedman
    February 24th, 2010 @ 9:27 am

Brady and ray should have a good battle this year, ray has been stepping up for this half of the year, luke keys may step it up and complete the whole race this year?? Steven “bub” Robertson, what more cas we say if this kid hooks up with a good team he will do wonders im talking top 10 guys, and all the other guys like, Craig, welchy, ringo, kurt brooks (if he atteneds),

  17. Alan Garner
    February 24th, 2010 @ 9:41 am

go the aussies! this has got to be procters year for the outright.
pretty early to pick other classes but ray is my favourite for int men. taught the sydney boys a thing or 2 at kanahooka had keysey, bub robbo and the victorian welchy covered.
adding chief skier ringo, along with brady and cameron king to that mix and you got some good racing.

  29. Bryn West
    February 25th, 2010 @ 11:03 pm

Jack – i Totaly agree with you, i think Will “Power” Newland could get the famous island first and maybe be a true Contender for the F2 Class.

Would love to get out and watch the catalina this year.

  30. jimmyb
    February 26th, 2010 @ 9:11 am

i would put my money on ray has been skiing like a champ over here…

others to look out for proctor, stouty, bub robertson and jack houston if he goes… benny hacket showing potential too..

i would agree with alan ray has obviously training hard and its paying off.. going very well..

not to take anything away from todd but i think his time has past to many new faces will be challengeing him i doubt he’ll be able to keep up…

fingers crossed austrailias number 1 wanker doesnt go over… ROWDY BURNS.. CHOPPER to say the least..

keep your eyes on the #22 luke whippet keys also skiing like a legend..

  36. Alan Garner
    February 27th, 2010 @ 5:26 am

good luck on making your way over ray, it seems you have plenty of support for a top catalina result
so is newland going to be over here for the 2011 world titles? how does he go in the UK series?

  37. California Coastguard
    February 27th, 2010 @ 9:00 am

The guys that put themselves in a class of their own in belgium are the real contenders to win catalina. the others are good guys but they wont be winning this year. pete is the exception. he didn’t excel in belgium but he does at catalina.

  38. Ray Ball
    February 27th, 2010 @ 9:54 am

there are some amazing skiers n crews out there, who ever takes this yr title will have sure earnt it, there is nothin better then seeing the best of the best racing one another all us aussies hope its one of our boys that bring that title home as iv said before time will tell

  39. josh
    February 27th, 2010 @ 1:00 pm

you must be stupid to think that todd can’t keep it up anymore…

  40. California Coastguard
    February 27th, 2010 @ 3:34 pm

    for todd randy and dennis
    winning catalina isn’t a goal
    its a tradition!!!!

  41. Shayne King
    February 27th, 2010 @ 6:07 pm

Team Nordic Racing, Todd Haig, Randy Davis and Dennis Hall have won the Catalina many and many of times because they are such a good “TEAM”!. This involves the skier, driver and observer. Last year that was proven on how important a “TEAM” really is in water ski racing.

All the best to Todd Haig your team in the 2010 Catalina. you’r a true hero mate !

  42. Will Newland
    February 28th, 2010 @ 11:34 pm

Loving the speculation guys! Some really entertaining reading! But I don’t want to go stepping above my station, I’m not really one for blowing my own trumpet… but great scare-mongering though Jack.. good work bro!

Alan Garner, last season I got 2nd in Mens F3 here in the UK, not bad considering it was my first year in mens, but that by no means says that I’ll be a front runner for F2, of course i would love to be, and I’ll do my best to be up there, everyone will do I’m sure, I’m just saying don’t take everything you read on here as fact!

Good luck to everyone, can’t wait for Catalina!!

ojai.. if you havent noticed a big foward runner of water ski racing in Australia has made a come back (wc9901) if he makes the trip to catalina i believe he has what it takes to be wc 2011 and take out catalina if he gets a good crew#55 badboy??

ash rowdy is a chopper anyone to let him observe would have to be a bigger chopper.. ringo needs to get off the piss before even thinking about making it to the island.. no offence ringo your and exellent skier and have alot of abiltiy to do good but you need to focus and buckle down and train hard.

    Franklin B,
Wayne is a GOOD Skier? what the hell kind of crap are you talking ? Wayne is a GREAT skier !!! and you say Todd was clearly better? I think you have your ass so filled with your head its not funny !! Todd Haig is another GREAT skier !! but ask him yourself if you would have the balls to come out from your fake name, he would tell you that he was not clearly the better skier. He is a class guy and would tell you the truth and that is that two guys fought it out and after 4 hours of racing there was only a second between them. So please shut your pie hole and give them both the respect they deserve, and if you want to talk it up then put a ski on and lets see what you got !! I bet you dont have the sack to get out of the water !! And you California Coastgaurd Pete didnt excel in the Worlds because he had 3 broken ribs !! I think all of you that talk your shit behind these fake names are a bunch of sackless choppers !! If you think you can run with the guys like Todd,Pete,Wayne at Catalina its easy, just get there line up,shut up and let your ski do your talking !! ……………..that is just my take on it…….

  54. bilko
    March 3rd, 2010 @ 9:15 am

sorry mike but only aussie’s can say chopper/choppers……..

  55. Ringo.

    March 3rd, 2010 @ 5:53 pm

  60. Brady Hoggins
    March 3rd, 2010 @ 6:21 pm

This is all entertaining guys, but this is the reason people do not like our sport there is a little to much drama, and franklin b get your head out of your ass i don’t agree with mike that often but this time he is right so stop acting ignorant and just shut up, would love to see you on the start line to race it out.

  61. patrick pants

I would shut that pie hole in a hurry if I were you before I find out your real name and come have a chat with you face to face. You know nothing of that race or what happend at that finish. Your voice means nothing as I am sure you have never done a thing in this sport!! Please just do us all a favor and stop writing your crap and just go away !

I’m with Bilko on this one, i know who Frankin B is . . .

  69. Katelin
    March 8th, 2010 @ 5:48 pm

catalina is a whole different race than any worlds course there has ever been…i think its gonna be Todd and Pete battling it out again. wayne, zig and whoever else might be at todd haig level at the worlds, but catalina is Todds stomping ground, the only person who has really proved himself against Todd in catalina is Pete….
with Karl Brooks and Marty Wells close behind on that list.

  70. Bolt speedman
    March 8th, 2010 @ 9:20 pm

What about chris stout? And grant turner? Australias best superclass skiers? Pull big numbers down the rivers and pulling big ones in the seas too!

  71. wild oats
    March 8th, 2010 @ 10:28 pm

katelin you should do some homework before making a statement like that – how will you go this year?
probably finish half hour behind kim as usual ha,ha

  72. mike avila
    March 9th, 2010 @ 1:56 am

    Bilko,Shane
if you know who it is then please post it for him since he doesnt have the balls to do it! To Wild Oats and Bolt, Katelin is not talking out of line she is just stating a fact !! I think it is very small of you Wild Oats or whatever your name really is to take a stab at her for just making a true statement about people other than herself. In the last ten years the only skiers that have been in the race with Todd and I mean really in the race, not half way to the Island or at the turn but really in the race has been Marty Wells and Peter Procter period !! Just look at the record books and I am sure you will find out it says Todd Haig nine out of ten ! I know how hard it is to race him there because we have been in a battle with him pulling Pete for the last three years. Those skiers you are talking about are all very good with the exception of Wayne Mawer as he is a great skier as well as Zig but the fact is Marty and Peter are the only ones that have really raced Todd. I give respect to Karl but Todd had spotted the field 1 min 43 seconds that year………….again I think if you want to chirp up then post your real name………….just my take on it……

  73. S DAVIS
    March 9th, 2010 @ 2:56 am

you said it perfect babe and todd will be ready i will make sure of that so keep dreaming mates

Please guys, I know who you are from your IP addresses and I don’t want you guys to be the cause of the comments being shut down or IP addresses being banned. This is a decent site for ski racing – don’t screw it.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

    Robbie

I’m glad that finally Robbie Llewellyn has taken a stance and is not going to permit various blogs being published on this site.
It would appear that some of you have no respect for the sport. If you did you would not make some of the comments that have been posted. We have a great healthy sport, lets keep it that way. Good luck and safe racing to all the competitors contesting the Catalina Island event this year.

honestly all the crap talking on here is stupid. You don’t see Peter or todd on here talking up crap and there all very well respected for that. Who knows what is going to happen at catalina anything can happen so no reason to be picking or fighting about who’s going to win. Good luck to everybody thats going to be in the race:) GOOD LUCK pete i love ya:)
