David ‘Bunny’ Howell Passes Away
on January 1st, 2011
A terribly sad New Year’s day for ski racing as Britain’s Bunny Howell suffered a heart attack this morning and passed away.
Bunny from Wales was a member of Penarth club in the early days and involved in ski racing since the 1960′s, crewing on the international circuit for some of the great British ski racing names. A wonderful character, full of fun and really enjoying watching the races in recent years. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts go out to his partner Cher and those closest to him.
Rest in peace Bunny.

How sad I am to have received a telephone call a short while ago to learn of the news that Bunny (The Inspector) has passed away. So many very fond memories of Bunny, and how fortunate I was to see him at Cardiff last year after many years of losing touch. another of life’s characters taken too soon. To Cher and family, my heart felt sympathy goes out to you all. Simon King xx
Cher. So sorry to hear of the tragic event on the first of the new year. Pauline and I were so sad and shocked when the news broke, we go a long way back. As you know David drove for me when I skied my first National back in the late sixties. Only last summer he gave me a photo of the event. We will miss him very much, he was a larger than life character.. We send our heartfelt sympathy and all our love, Pauline and Martin,
IT is such a tragic start to the new year, to hear this news
RIP Bunny Howell
We are very sad about this news!! also I lost Bunny a lot of years ago from the early days with Billy Rixon etc… we found each other again at the Worlds in Belgium and he came over for the Diamond Race this year again; So to the family and all sport friends our most sincere condolances … Vera, Cois & family (Van den bossche – Belgium)
I was so very sorry to read this sad news and just want to add my thoughts and condolences to Cher and Bunny’s family. I too had lost track with him over the years but caught up at the Worlds in Belgium. A lovely man and an important guy in our sport especially in those early years. He will be sadly missed. Gill Hill.
