2013 Barrie Beehag Ski Race

The Barrie Beehag Water Ski Race is coming up again fast! Competitors will race from Deep Creek Marina to Torrumbarry Weir and back on Saturday 16th November.

The race is held in Echuca on the Murray River, as a memorial race for Barrie Beehag. Barrie a founding member of the Moama Water Sports Club, also a life member, sadly passed away from cancer in 2006. To give back to the community, all funds raised are donated to Echuca Regional Health, in the Oncology Department.

Food & Drinks will be available at the start/finish area and at Torrumbarry Boat Ramp during the turnaround. Merchandise, face painting, jumping castle and a great shady area to watch the racing will be at Deep Creek Marina for spectators and teams.

Entry is $2 per person or $5 per family. Official race programs will be available for $5, they can be brought now from Newsagents in Echuca & Moama.

Competitor briefing, breath testing and pick up, of Race Safe tag is at the top of the boat ramp – Deep Creek Marina from 7am. Briefing at 7.30am, with racing starting at approximately 10am.

All boats will leave Deep Creek Marina in 1 minute intervals for the journey to Torrumbarry Weir.  The first boat away will be Burnin, last years overall winner towing skiers Andrew Griffin and Richard Souwer, can they beat their time of 22:53?  The last boat away is Heat from the Junior Boys / Girls class, they are towing Emma Wymer and Taryn Reid.

Once all boats have been accounted for the teams at Torrumbarry Weir, they will then return  in order of finish time from back to Deep Creek.  Whilst the turnaround occurs, at Deep Creek Marina there will be a water ski show provided by Southern Waters Show Ski Team.

Presentation will be held later on that afternoon at Deep Creek Marina, be sure to had down there to catch all the action!
