Dear Water Ski Friends
It is with a heavy heart that I have to advise you that the European Water Ski Racing Championships scheduled for August in Krems, Austria, is now sadly cancelled.
This is a great shame on many levels not least for the organiser, Georg Forstel and his colleagues who have worked tirelessly in trying to pull the event together.
Georg had even paid the sanction fee, and made good progress towards the event, with a first bulletin prepared.
This Cancellation is due entirely to the refusal of the Austrian Federation ( OEWWV)to sign the LOA agreeing to enable the event to take place for their own reasons.
You will see that the original decision by Austria was dated 16th and I immediately asked if the water permission issue was the sole impediment, (as I believe that could have been overcome with Georg’s ongoing efforts).
The Federation response was on the 18/03/2016 last Friday–NO anyway.
I have sought clarification from E & Region Executive and basically we have to go with the Austrian Federation decision in this matter, so we cannot hold our European Racing Championships as scheduled in Austria, this coming August 2016.
Your E & A Racing council will now see what we can do to replace the event, although this is perhaps now unlikely at this stage of the season. We will see what can be done in Austria, as an alternative to the original event.
