The 3rd Sydney Offshore – 6 Feb

Posted on | January 20, 2010 | 16 Comments

The 3rd Sydney Offshore is to be run on the same course as last time. Brooklyn – Sydney Heads – Brooklyn on 6 Feb. It is to be held on the last warm up and conditioning weekend before the Southern 80, so the training alone will be invaluable.

Expect even more crews, and even more of the World’s best, take on the course and see who comes out on top this time.
Can either Jason or Peter make it win number 2?

Will the brutal Sydney offshore water return from race #1 and test the whole field ?

I live at Umina Beach and for those who are not aware of the location it is Ocean Beach which faces directly toward Lion Island. If the swell on the 6th Feb is anything like it was yesterday 20th Jan I really feel for those competing. Ocean Beach on a good day produces very small 2 – 3 foot waves due to the protection offered by Box head and Lion Island. Yesterday we saw 8 – 10 foot waves, which has not been seen on this beach except in storm conditions and yesterday was a perfect summers day. For those interested in up to date weather reports with swell and wind direction 7 day forecast go to http://www.seabreeze.com.au. Good luck to all competitors. I watched the last race from Warrah Trig Look out which is on the north side of the entrance to broken bay just above Pearl Beach and Patonga. With a good set of Binoculars you can see the boats running down back along palm beach. 10 minute walk from the Car park to the look out. Great long view vantage point. Like being in a chopper. Have fun guys.

Peter Proctor is one of the greatest racers on the planet Wayne can come down but i know Zig will be the man to beat for sure if you could put money on the run i would back Walmsley and Peter to give Wayne a run.

    Hi everyone,
due to dangerous seas the SO3 has been postponed to a later date (TBC).
more info will be posted soon, we hope this has not caused many people drama but we dont want any boats sinking or skiers being in danger out there.
    thanks

    Harbourmaster
