After the 1st Karl Brooks Memorial Golf Day

Justin Frank writes …As the dust begins to settle from last week’s event (Karl Brooks Memorial Golf Tournament), I’ve had some time to reflect on what a great time was had by all.

The event was a huge success and it would not have been possible without our generous sponsors, participants, and volunteers who really stepped up to the plate. Thank you so much for coming out and making the day happen! Aside from a few golf cart incidents (you know who you are) the whole day turned out great. We learned a lot about what it takes to put on an event of this nature and hope that everyone who made it out this year will return to the 2nd Annual Karl Brooks Memorial Golf Tournament. I can guarantee you that next years event will be even bigger!

For those of you who were unable to attend, all I can say is make sure you don’t miss out next year!

I also wanted to let you all know what we are planning on doing with the money raised this year. Since our sport is in need of greater participation, and introducing kids to the sport is a great way to keep our sport alive for years to come, we will be holding a couple of junior water ski clinics this summer. The clinics will be a weekend long event and will comprise of fourteen to eighteen kids between the ages of 10-16 years old, with abilities ranging from kids who recently learned to ski, to kids who are currently racing and want to take their skills to the next level. The purpose of the clinics is to teach kids the fundamentals of the sport and what it takes to compete at the world class level. We want to teach them play skiing, racing, physical conditioning, how to practice good nutrition, and even how to deal with adversity on and off the water.

We would like to start forming an interest list now and hold the first clinic in June. So send Todd or myself an email and let us know if you are interested. There will also be a sign up sheet at the skier registration tent at the Havasu and Parker marathons. Please feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone you think would be interested.

Thank you again to all who made this possible.
