Barrie Beehag Ski Race – Saturday 17th November 2012

An exciting weekend of ski racing for Echuca / Moama with people from all over Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland competing in the annual Barrie Beehag Water Ski Race. Held this Saturday (November 17th), teams will start at Deep Creek Marina, racing their way to Torrumbarry Weir and return. Who will be the outright winner?

Last years’ winner Hellrazor will be the first to take off, with a change of skiers out the back. We will see Jake Tegart and Peter Procter skiing behind Hellrazor. The original entry had Jason Walmsley and Peter Proctor skiing.

With 150 entrants, all the excitement will all be happening at the Marina, with a $2 gate entry to watch the start and finish, where food and drinks are available for purchase. Half time entertainment will be provided for spectators including face painting, jumping castle, Mulwala ski show and Krash Jet Ski Display. Race programs are available to purchase for $5 from the Marina.

The class predictions have The Syndicate and Hellrazor battling it out to beat last years’ time of 23.25 in Superclass.

The Judge, Burnin and Sportspage look to be the top boats to beat in Unlimited, with 24 boats in this class, it could be any one of them who take podium honours.

In 8 Litre, Super Slak towing Dylan Stevenson and Cameron Mitchell and the teams of Avenger or Orsm which could take out the honours in this class.

MOC (Modified Open Cockpit) class, the favourite would be Evinrude Ace Racing towing Shane Floyd and Darren Reilly, who will lead the class from Deep Creek Marina. Sidewinder with Tom Bishop and Doug Perry will not be far from them, along with Smokin Mirrors 2 towing Laine Cox and Andrew Morgan.

Ultra Trouble Maker is out to break the record in 6 Litre, trying to match the big boys!  Another big class with 18 competitors, who are all very competitive, it is anyone’s race!

SMOC (Standard Motor Open Cockpit) is always a close race, with seconds generally separating the top 3.

Watch out for the girls – Lisa and Kristy behind Sky High in 200hp, they are ones to beat.

Under 19 Boys and Girls will have Chief towing Tyron and Brandon, leading the charge from Stalker towing Will and Jamie.

In Juniors, Pigs Arsenal towing Sean and Jackson, with Spinal Tap towing Tayla and Thomas look hard to beat them across the line.

60mph and 70mph are restricted classes, and continue to be well supported with 21 entries in 70mph and  25 boats in 60mph. very hotly contested classes – as long as they don’t break over!
