Harvey Saundercock Passes Away

In the early hours of this morning, a well respected member of Australian Ski Racing, Harvey Saundercock, passed away after a long fight with many health issues.

Harvey was heavily involved in ski racing in NSW for many many years and only stopped about 10 years ago (or so). Harvey competed in all the classics, the NSW Series, the various zone competitions and he loved Region V. He was badly injured at the Gold Coast classic in 1994 and was not expected to come back to the sport, but such was Harvey that he did. He held many records in Country Outboard in both the Grafton Bridge to Bridge and the Sydney Bridge to Bridge.

When I first met Harvey, he was racing his boat ‘Lithgow Auto Parts’ and then moved on to two boats both called Airborne, although prior to this time, he had raced inboards.

Harvey loved the sport of ski racing. He drove for hours on his own to be at the various races and always enjoyed the social side of our sport. His cheeky grin will never be forgotten by those that new him. He will be sadly missed. His wife Jan, Daughters Wendy and Joclyn, their husbands and his grandchildren are all hurting much this day.

I would appreciate it if you could circulate this news on your website in memoriam of Harvey.

Kind regards,

Kelly and Darren Lindsell
