Lauryn Eagle Sets Sydney-Newcastle Record

On Sunday former world champion Lauryn Eagle set off from Manly in NSW, Australia to set a new record skiing from Sydney to Newcastle and another record doing the return trip.

The existing Sydney to Newcastle water ski record set by Ray Wheeler who was in the 1979 Australian World’s team, has stood for 21 years at 1 hour and 55 minutes. Lauryn broke that and set a new record of 1 hour and 42 minutes.

She then went onto complete the return trip  of 222km in 4 hrs and 40 seconds and to become the only person ever to complete the Sydney Newcastle to Sydney water ski run non-stop.

Rob Storum of In Tha Zone Images captured this shot of Lauryn a couple of months ago at the Australian world team selection races.
