Queensland World Titles Course Trial an action packed success

Wade Bennett reports on yesterday’s race at the 2011 Worlds trial course in QLD, Australia: Big crowds witnessed some great Racing on Moreton Bay for the World Titles Course trial day yesterday. Well done to Chris Stout WC’03’07 and the Burnin’ crew for taking out Open Mens in the race of the day.

Chris has just arrived home from total domination by both he, and sister Trudi at the European Championships.

After a race long duel with firstly Stephen Robertson WC’99’01 behind Stinga F1, then in a really well calculated ski by Jason Walmsley WC’07 and Team Hell in True Blue, the crowd were on it’s feet, as he chased down firstly Robbo and then set off after Stouty right to the end of the race, where there was a rope length in it. Stephen Robbo came in for a hard fought 3rd in a spectacular race.

An outstanding ski by 4 time World Champ, Ann Kennedy behind Stinga F1, to hold off Lauryn Eagle WC’05 behind Twenty Four & Cara Jochinke with Noizworks in Open Womens , in what would be the last race completed by Noizworks Racing.  Ann showing her skill, training and natural athleticism are still a force to be reckoned with.

F2  Mens was the biggest class of the weekend, with over 20 competitors. Mark Weaver  & Team Weaver Racing, came in for the win just 17 seconds in front. They were followed home by  Verado Arrow with Grant Turner and 3rd was Envy towing Daniel Graziano.

F2 Women’s was won by WC’88’07 Tania Teelow behind Envy, Leanne Hickey and Tuff E Nuff Team 50 came in 2nd, with 3rd place going to the Victorian crew of Smoke ‘n Mirrors towing Victorian Womens Skier of the Year 09/10 Chelsea Blight.

Junior Boys World Champion in 2009, Jack Houston showed the way again in Junior Boys, leading home SeVen with Jamie Moret & Envy towing Jack Whitton.

As did Kelsey Feros & Prima Donna Racing, who has really set the bar high in Jnr Girls. 2nd was Shotgun towing Danielle Coyte & 3rd went to Aimee Sloan behind F2Wild. The Male and Female NSWSRA skiers of the year, Jack and Kelsey really showed why they deserve those titles.

The Open Mens race was red flagged about 5 seconds into the start of the race, with Noizworks Barrel rolling whilst accelerating out of the start area. Mike Avilla (USA), Rod Hogben & Pete Proctor are all ok and Hoggie was going to retrieve the boat this morning from where it was stuck in the mud and buoyed on Sunday.

All in all a spectacular day’s racing, with the Super Star’s of the sport really putting on some great racing!

The venue passed with flying colors with representation from Cairns right down to Victoria, enjoying some wonderful weather, Qld hospitality, great racing water, crowd locations, facilities and views.

The Open and F2 Womens race was even delayed due to dolphins on the course ! ..now that’s racing Qld style !
