After 14 years of publishing water ski racing news online, I’ve decided to call it a day and so I won’t be publishing any more news & updates. It’ll free up some of my time for other things.
I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to the site over the years, which thousands of people all over the world have enjoyed. Whilst there are ski racing web sites scattered all over the place these days, skirace.net has remained a central source of international information where so many in the sport have turned to, to find either what they want, or where they can find it. There is always a daily stream of 1,000 or so page views which has peaked to over 20,000 on World Championship days.
Skirace.net will remain online as an archive, but I won’t be updating it or sending out any more news. There have been site moves, server crashes and changes in the way information has been published, so a lot of content has gone missing over the years, but there is still a decent archive that will always remain a good reference for the sport.
It would be great if someone else takes on the challenge to create a replacement for skirace.net. It’s a lot of work needing more than a season’s worth of enthusiasm but there might be someone out there so please step forward and take up the challenge. If you do, I’d be happy to help you get going.
On that note, I’d like to wish everyone a very happy, healthy, safe and successful 2011, and no doubt I’ll be seeing some of you at the races in the new year.
Thank you for reading,
Robbie Llewellyn

Dear Robbie
Your commitment over the years to this website has been incredible. At times a full time job.We cannot express our love of the website enough. In 2007 after tragically loosing our son Karl in a waterski training accident skirace.net crashed with the amount of traffic the announcement attracted. We have had a book made with all the comments that were posted on skirace.net. We would like to personaly thank you for the opportunity for family, friends and people around the world that have posted their comments. It has meant so much and will do forever.
We wish you, Gabbi & Tommy all the very best in the future, and I know this may be the end of skirace.net for you but I’m sure we will still see you and your family at ski races..
The Brook’s Family
What an end to an era.
Rob, your 14 years running this site has been a pleasure to see presented. As I’ve told you, you’ve been the inspiration behind my Facebook page for Oz ski racing, but it will never have the culmination of world news that you have been putting together all of these years. You should be very proud mate. I’m sure it cant have been an easy decision.
All the best for the future for you, Gabby and Tommy.
Wade

Robbie
Thank you for all the hard work, effort and professionalism you have dedicated to this website. It has been a tremendous source of information for everyone to tap into and has allowed us to keep up to date with everything going on in the world of ski racing.
It will be impossible for anyone to follow you because you have dedicated so much of yourself to the cause. Lets hope someone can take on the challenge and if they do a fraction of the great job you have done they will be doing well.
We wish you Gabi and Tommy all the best for the future and no doubt we will see you at the races.
Thanks again Robbie and enjoy the free time!

Robbie. It is with great sorry I hear of your decision to end skiracenet, you have joined enthusiasts from all over the world who love our sport. Is there any chance you may consider changing you mind, I know from you father that with family & business commitments the site is taking up too much of your time, maybe it could become part of your business, for a long time i have thought you should have been rewarded for your unique services to our sport. It is with this in mind that i would like to launch an appeal to all interested parties, world wide, to pledge each year a sum of say £10. If enough pledges came forward, could you consider continuing the site as a commercial venture. As you have written before that I introduced you to Ski Racing when you were still at school, I feel it is my duty to our sport to beg you to continue in as much capacity as you time permits. Martin Davies.
Robbie,
What a sad day. The site and the updates you provide will be sadly missed. On this sad occasion I even find myself agreeing with Martin Davies (well it is Christmas!) I would happily pay to access the site in the future, if thats what it would take to keep you and the site up and running.
You have been a great help to me over the years and especially when I first got into racing in 1999, even hooking me up with DC for a ski over christmas when I was in Oz for the Millennium!
What ever you decide, I wish you and your family happiness and success.
Once again many thanks for all of your help and support to all ski racers from all over the world.
Cheers
