Stout Wins Sydney Offshore 3

The Sydney Offshore 3 was run this morning on a clear windy winters day here in Sydney, the race was won by Chris Stout in a time close to 42 minutes with Jason Walmsley 2nd, Stephen Robertson 3rd roughly 10 secs seperating the top 3.

all 17 starters got off to a clean start and it was 2 time world champion Robertson that lead the field into the ocean closely followed by Daniel Graziano, Christ Stout and Jason Walmsley, from there Chris Stout took an early lead from Robertson & Walsmley and as conditions slowly deteriorated toward the halfway turn some 40 kms down the coast it was the top 3 skiers that controlled the race.

At the turn it was Jason Walmsley that made his move into 2nd and then challenged Stout for the lead with Robertson some 3 rope lengths behind, both Stout & Walmsley were locked in an intense battle for the lead all the way home with Stout eventually taking the race by less than a rope length with Robertson 10 seconds behind in 3rd, Peter Procter and Daniel Graziano rounded out the top 5 finishing several minutes behind the winner followed by Grant Patterson & Bub Robertson racing for the line.

Most participants finished without any problems and we are happy to say that not only did we have some of the top class skiers but also some young skiers completing the offshore course which was a great effort.

We want to say well done to everyone that turned up for the day and completed the course, and also congratulations to Chris Stout for taking the win and the chequered flag.

It’s also noted that we have had 3 offshore races here now with 3 different winners so the “salary cap idea” on the rules is working.
