Predictions for 2011
Mens Formula 1 Mawer/ Zig (either one, both legends)
Mens Formula 2 Daniel Cotton
Womens Formula 1 Lauren Eagle
Womens Formula 2 Trudi Stout
Junior Boys Jack Houston (Ben Hackett following close behind)
Junior Girls Maddi Boyer
Racing will be hard and fast in the bay near redcliff. The light weight force boats in F2 will be extremely hard to beat running high 80 mph. I hope Wayne Mawer goes for another world title and the same with Ziggy (maybe skiing behind Stinga F1).
kris, you are very small minded saying skiers over here cannot ski 70mph+.
Most europeans ski on the oceans, the canals are only part of our racing.
I witness the final GB race which displayed world class F2 open water racing racing between 2 cylone and 1 Force team side be side be side. Part of the race the F2 were faster than the respectable F1!
In Belgium also we have fighters and at the end of the season we could all see how much improovement had been made. next european season will be interesting especially with the new very FAST bernico xtreme! 103 hehehe
Watch out for Europeans, Austria always get better, netherlands also, GB and belgium will always show some goodness.
Happy Racing! eurokid.
Yep John point taken i see where your coming from But i think you got your wires crossed mate Bilkos not my son???? you have the wrong guy… And im not geting into this hole he said she said crap Im just not Happy with the first Comment Made about us protesting i think it was negative and uncalled for Thats it
All I have to say is I hope no one who is seriously considering showing any media coverage of water ski racing comes to this page right now… I really think it would hurt our sport, and the opinions of anyone who is even remotely interested in getting into ski racing. There are a lot of people turned off by the posting that is going on here. I am one of the people who DID NOT want to post on this page just becuase of it. It just wasn’t worth it. Because it seems no matter what is said by anyone, it is construed as being negative. I have read through all of the posts, and I do see where some people were being light hearted about things (trying to crack jokes), and then they are eaten alive by people.
I think it is great that we are all so proud of our countries, and want to do everything in our power to make our countries proud of us. But there comes a point when we all need to stop, take a deep breath, and think about it. Trust me, I’ve had things ready to post, I walk away from the computer, then come back and don’t post.
All this does is hurt ski racing. I see a lot of country pride in the predictions being made, but come on, one country is most likely not going to sweep the whole worlds on individual wins. But, it is great that you have that much pride and confidence in your skiers. Seriously though, let’s all be realistic here… There is a very slim chance any country will win each and every class with their individual skiers. You may win the country trophy, but it’s highly unlikely to win the individual.
It’s great to see the competitiveness, but let’s all try to be a bit nicer to each other, and try to make this sport grow together. How many of you would like to see ski racing in the Olympics some day? Having discussions like this, and beating each other up on the internet isn’t going to help us reach that.
So let’s try to bring this around to being a positive country support thread. It’s OK to say something good about someone from another country!!! It’s OK to agree with someone from another country!!! LOL
Graham….luke is bilko…he posted as both so people wouldnt know who he is.
Amy-great point. we all need to simmer down a bit and try and make this a bit more lighthearted.
After talking with Bilko (and hearing) yesterday i realize that the aussies may have taken my comments the wrong way, (makes it hard to detect tone through text) but i really was joking around…i dont think you guys are cheaters. i still stand my ground on some of the issues and agree that if ALL countries would stop protesting unless its completely neccisary, things would go alot smoother and we wouldnt have to worry about what is fair or not we could just race.
alright here are my predictions
men f1 todd or wayne
men f2 cameron king
women f1 ann procter (sorry katelin)
women f2 trudi stout
junior girls adelaide cox
junior boys jack houston
whos john?
anyone here ever heard of a sore winner? i believe thats what we can call the aussies at this point.
won by default and still crying about it.
the only honest people on these threads get attacked, no wonder nobody will put their name on here.
everyone lighten up, take a joke.
maybe consider the reason why the americans are being defensive, the aussies started talking bad first on this thread and a couple people talked back, and now are getting a bad wrap about it. seems unfair.
how about everyone consider both sides of every story.
Come on Brady keep my name out of this. Im just sitting on the sidelines here laughing my ass off at all the people talking crap on each other. Please keep it going because it is hilarious. Some people have waaay too much time on their hands. If I do happen to make the US team for F1, I will bring my “A” game because the competition will be very very tough.
Leave it alone people .
If we are not careful our multi million dollar sponsors will desert us and then we will all have to pay for everything ourselves.
Seriously
Ski racing cannot qualify for the Olympics , it is a motor sport !
I am as biased as the next man towards their country, which is pretty biased. But I certainly can give credit where credit is due.
If Todd comes he will race an Aussie to win. He has proven himself one of the greatest skiers of all time, but on our home turf he will have another head to head encounter.
Kim is the world champ and deserves it, but if Ann runs again and Trudy steps up she will not have it all her own way. Both our girls like the Queensland conditions. This is just conjector, I don’t know if Ann is running again or if Trudy will step up from F2 !
Our F2 boats do over 85mph and if the conditions suit they will.
Jack dominated in Belgium , he is MUCH better in the bay type conditions.
We have a some very strong girls our junior selections will be very close.
Most of the Aussies had no experience in canal conditions ( even though the officials here where asked to try to simulate them in the selection races, it was to no avail). It is a great form of racing in which Europe definately has the advantage because they get to race there regularly.
This time we get to race how we like it. Well not exactly as we like it . In a perfect world we would race on the rivers at 120mph. But the bay conditions will do nicely thanks.
But best of all we will be coming straight off our season (for once) so the rest of the world gets to train through the winter like we usually have to.
I am not having a shot at anyone (maybe a little one at Amy’s naivety) but just showing some national pride.
Of course there are some great skiers from all over the world.
Welcome.
Come on over and prove me wrong. If you don’t want or can’t afford to bring your own boat, then contact our federation. We have HEAPS of TOP boats F1 and F2 who would be happy to tow international competitors.
Does anyone have anymore details on where the worlds will be exactly. We know its N. Brisvagous.
Like what beach or marina and boat ramp the boats will use? Where the pits will be? Will the same location be used with different course layouts?
Where the parade and preso will take place?
Any exact course layouts?
I know its early days and qld has a lot of planning to do, but if anyone has any confirmed and serious info, it would be good.
I checked the area on Google Maps and it looks like a wicked location. Should pull some good crowds with the population up there.
Cheers.
What if this trash talk is the BEST thing we could do for the sport? What if media is MORE likely to cover the sport because there is some interesting drama and rivalry and competition? Talking crap is done in every other sport known. Then we battle together then we party together. It’s just talk. So it proves this is what it takes to find 105 replies in a thread on our best website. This and someone dying works. I think the maturity level went too low on this one but, hey! it was a good read. Now let’s try it again and make every reply completely fascinating. More facts but less name calling and rudeness I think. Then we submit it and get a reality show about the road to the World Championships and all the drama that unfolds. People eat that up.
So I’m different, I believe ONLY the media should see this thread. I would see this more harmful to any new recruits that are potentially racing next year and are coming to this thread to learn about the new 2011 World Championships as that is the title. But no they are exposed to this crap and that’s not good no.
I don’t think water ski racing can be an Olympic sport because it requires the use of an engine. But the X games are wide open for it. Prime sponsor to target would be Red Bull.
Nevet say never… As time goes on people are going to want to see more in the Olympics. Snowboarding finally got in. We can eventually too. Along with motocross and freestyle mx. We will be recognized for the physical ability that it takes to do this. Can no one dream higher than our world championships? I know I dream higher than it. I would love to see motorsports in the Olympics one day. The stuffy old folks who make the decisions will be out one day, and the younger more extreme group will be in. That will be our chance. So please, have more confidence in our sport than that. We can do it!
People like Shane are the exact reason why I didn’t even want to post anything on here. NOTHING anyone says on here is going to not be torn apart… Truly ridiculous. Think bigger and better for our sport! You just have to have a positive attitude and patience.
Amy , I am truly sorry to burst your bubble.
Dream away but the pinnacle of our sport is the world titles.
No Olympics , not ever.
The Olympics are about human endeavor. For example, perhaps a Kenyan runner can progress through to compete for his country from poor beginnings.
Not , poor Kenyan skier buys a quarter million dollar race boat and spends another 200k a year campaining it. If any motor sport was every to get into the Olympics (which it wont) it would be F1 first cab off the rank and ski racing along way behind.
Please Amy dont refrain from posting on my behalf , everyone has a right to their opinions.
If I say something you dont like , have your say , no problems here. And if you post something I dont agree with I will say so as well.
Its free speach , isnt that one of the things that the USA holds dear.
I remember a movie where the president of the USA is talking about someone burning a US flag . He says that although he found it abhorent he would defend the persons right to do it.
My Predictions for 2011:
F1 Mens: Jason Walmsley or Chris Stout
F2 Mens: Cameron King
F1 Womens: Lauryn Eagle
F2 Womens: Trudi Stout
Junior Boys: Jack Houston
Junior Girls: Kelsey Feros
No motor based sport will ever be considered for the Olympics.
I would like to think that the Aussies can win all the titles , but the only one I would bet on is Jack Houston
shane,
very good point, you guy are going to be on your own turf this time around and its going to be extremely hard for anyone to compete with that.
but just like you, we are only defending our country and our skiers.
luke keys big call for f1 network…..
Absolutely Katelin,
everyone should be patriotic and support there own countrymen.
I’m a proud aussie but to be honest home water won’t make as big of a difference as you’d hope. The top skiers will adapt their training and more than likely be out here training a while before the event.
I still think it will be hard to beat the Aussies but that is more because we have some of the most talented and hardest working skiers out there (not taking anything away from other countries).
I’ll just be glad to see the cream of our sport going round showing us why it is we compete and love this great sport of ours.
whinge whinge whinge whinge, get over it!!!!!!!! what happened has happened, its a website half the people on here re just trying to make people angry, and everyone take it to heart what people are saying on the internet! haha pathetic! if ur all as good as u all say you are u will make the 2011 worlds team for ur country and then we will see whos the best, everyone get over it!!! and us aussie just love talking number too!
Chris and Trudi Stout f1
Bub Robo and Lauren Eagle f2
Jack and Kelsey kids
Well said geoffry hav to agree the numbers do get talked! Can’t wait to see u get back on a ski geoffry that green jacket has your name on it!
who i think
F1-Peter procter
f1-ann procter
juniioor
Kelsy,jack
Do you retards even know how to spell or form a sentence? Half of you people should be less worried about Ski Racing and more worried about passing the second grade spelling test.
dont need to know how to spell to ski
I hear f2 will be an all MPC affair
Mick, Pidge, Cunningham….
Why are superclass skiers skiing F2 , just out of curiousity ?
Maybe because they will think of it as an ‘easy victory’. Think they might be suprised with the talent in F2. Stick to superclass
bruna bit rude there mate. quick question do you ski race? did it ever cross your mind that certain superclass skiers wanted to win in f before giving f1 ago? i think all the comments on here are a load of bullsh*t. Usa and Australia are both very capable teams and both will be putting there best forword for the world to challenge! like others have said on here if media got a hold of the shit being talked on here by everyone they would kill the sport quicker than anyone can imagine! yes usa has great skiers but i honesly believe that the aussies may win overall i doubt it will be a clean sweep as some have said but aus will be hard to beat in our own contry when we ski in the water nearly every weekend!
my predictions are:
mf1. stephen robertson
mf2. bub robertson
wf1. kim lumley
wf2. trudi stout
jnr girls. kelsey feros or sarah teelow
jnr boys. jack houston close behind trevor wendt
as for the todd wayne situation can we friggen get over it! it was almost 6 months ago!
best of luck for everyone thinking of competing all i can say is everyone needs to train and put there best effort forward
F1 Mens: Todd Haig
F2 Mens: Daniel Cotton
F1 Womens: Katelin Wendt!
F2 Womens: Trudi Stout
Junior Boys: Jack Houston
Junior Girls: Yolien Bormans
Just a spectator: details should be posted on a website soon, venue is Pelican Park Redcliffe.
