9 March 2008 – The ski racing world was been shocked by the terrible news that Peter Eagle lost his life in a boating accident at Sydney Harbour. Known for his great personality and many years of involvement in ski racing, Peter aged 51, will be missed by so many people.
Peter’s family Kerrie, Lauryn and Sarah have asked that the following message from Linda Keys be sent to the ski racing world.
This is an e-mail I never wanted to send – Peter Eagle has passed away today after an unfortunate boating accident in Sydney Harbour today.
This is a shock a for family, friends and ski racing Australia – and the world, as Pete was so well known and loved by everyone. Pete was always so friendly and happy, the first in the water to get in the water and get wet if a boat needed pushing out, or didn’t start , to fix a trailer or engine – to help with ropes, to carry skis, Peter would help anyone who needed help!
This news has saddened us all deeply and still seems very surreal – I will keep you more updated as Kerrie passes on information to me as she has asked me to keep people up to date, as I am sure you can imagine her phone is running hot.
I was with Kerrie, Lauryn and Sarah this afternoon and all are as well as can be expected – we will miss Peter dearly.

Ski Racing’s Geoff Burgess who was in the boat with Peter is seriously injured in hospital and let’s pray that he makes a good recovery.
