A Weekend with Stouty n Weaves

Aussie photographer Rob Storum of In Tha Zone Images was on the water and on the banks of the Hawkesbury for the 2009 Sydney One-Up Bridge to Bridge race. Rob wrote the following words and sent in a selection of superb shots for skirace.net readers.

It starts on Saturday whene the NGR boys flew in from QLD – we met just after lunch at the finish line of the Bridge (Windsor) where Blazen`s Chris Stout and Burnin`s Mark Weaver were preparing themselves for their last hit out before tomorrow’s big race. Noel had Blazen back at the motel doing some minor repairs, so the boys decided to have a run behind Burnin (Noels 2nd boat). As the boys were getting ready I jumped in with Burnin`s driver Gary Holzwart (camera in hand) and I got a feel of what driver Gary and observer Jason Bennett will go through in tomorrow`s big race.

As we got back to the ramp the boys were ready for their run and a bit of a photo shoot at the same time (thanks guys). After about an hour on the water it was time to get the guys off the water and back on dry land for tomorrow’s race.

The team was dreaming of a 1-2 finish, and as we know not only did they achieve this but both skiers broke current World Champion Jason Walmsley’s record and became the new kings of the Hawkesbury. Congratulations must go to Chris Stout for shattering Ziggy`s time by a minute and placing 1st with NGR team-mate Mark Weaver (Current F2 Australian Champion) crossing the line in 2nd place, also breaking Jason’s record. 3rd place went to Grant Patterson behind Greg Houston’s “Stinga”

A big thank you must go to Team NGR and owner Noel Griffin for always giving me his time to help promote Ski Racing.
