Belgium Worlds Move Closer

The 2009 World Water Ski Racing Championships moved one step closer to finalisation yesterday when IWSF President Kuno Ritschard confirmed that the IWSF Executive Board has made the decision to submit the Belgian bid to the IWSF World Congress.

This is excellent news for the sport of water ski racing. It’s well known that Belgium hosts a world class event every year in the form of the infamous Diamond Race. No ski racer can be satisfied until they have competed in certain races around the world and the Diamond Race is one where skiers prove their worth.

A Belgium Worlds is what much of the world of water ski racing is now looking forward to. Last week, Sid Adriaensen of Belgium presented even more details of the proposed courses and event venues to the IWSF Racing Council. As per a previous posting, the races would be held at Gent, Genk and Viersel, with the entire event based around Viersel.

Belgium offers not only first class race venues, but it also offers European culture and character that can only be found in Europe. Its nightlife is unprecendented and the tourist attractions are too many to see in such a short time. I like many, can’t wait for Belgum 2009.
