Dylan de Weert sent in a report of Belgium’s F1 Grobbendonk race last week when World Champion driver and boat builder Nico Bertels dusted the cobwebs off his ski and took to the water behind a boat.
The former F1 & F2 international skier raced behind his own custom made boat and did pretty well as he took the lead after 2 laps and kept it until 15 minutes before the end. Kenny Weckx won in a sprint finish with Jordy Wisman.
Peter de Weert and Dave Vansteelant added another challenge to Nico’s race by holding up incorrect times on race cards. You can witness Bels’ reaction in the photos below.
