International Water Ski Racing Online Since 1996

Ski 4 Kids with cancer THANKS

What a Great Day we had with the Ski 4 Kids with cancer, everything except for Mother Nature were on our side on the day, 17 Boats Started and Finished with the only casualty being Daniel Cotton’s entry who’s race was over before it began by being towed back thru the heads and back to their waiting trailer

See attachment

Unfortunately on the Day the Wind had blown around from the West (where it had been blowing in a breeze for 2 weeks) to a howling 20-30 knot south westerly that brought up the choppy conditions that mixed with the 1.5 to 2 meter southerly swell made for some very interesting and trying skiing conditions

16 other Boats (Including the Water Police)greeted us in the waters of Cabbage tree bay at Manly’s Shelley Beach, and everyone was on time so we able to get the event away at 10am on the dot as planned( ooppss…who made that comment that this never happens in ski Racing?)

There were plenty of stories at the Finish Line of Hog’s Breath Cafe about who had how many falls and how many whales we saw; I don’t appreciate that comment about me being a dugong on Ski’s

For those who were there I hope that you will agree with me in saying that Hogs Breath Cafe was a great Venue for the Finish Line with a Jetty for the Boats right in front, the staff did their best although there were about 100 of us there.. The staff were doing their best to get around to everyone and getting us fed and watered, Special thanks to Andrew the owner of Hogs Breath for sponsoring the Finish Post Race celebrations and the $300 Donation to Ski 4 Kids

Whist I am Thanking People special thanks to Di Sergant from Newcastle Volunteer Coast Guard for being on standby in case of any incidents and her constant communication to make sure the day went off without a hitch, Thanks also to Greg Wiseman from the Newcastle Maritime for his assistance in getting the paperwork together at both the Sydney and Newcastle Maritime offices

Also a Great Thanks for Sue, Kim and the other helpers at Hogs Breath for setting up the post Event as well as the Raffle prizes

I am sure you all have your own Stories on the day, and if I didn’t get to speak to you personally I would love to hear back from you

I would appreciate the feedback on the day and any ideas how to improve on Next Year would be great

Do we start at Manly again?

Will we run June Long weekend?

Do we do another a run second event in Warmer Months? Newcastle to Terrigal and back ?

Finish Line Venue (Hogs Breath Again?)

(Next Year if at HB we should book out in Advance the entire back area and have a Microphone there)

Briefing prior to race?

Any other ideas

Thanks again for ALL the Competitors for your support as well as all those behind the scenes

P.S. We are still tallying up all the Monies raised but at this stage it was over $3,000
