With entries still coming in, it’s expected that over 70 teams will be screaming towards Catalina island tomorrow morning as we approach the 60th Catalina Water Ski Race.
Race organiser Randy Jarrell and Long Beach Boat and Ski Club Commodore Ken Vaughan have been working incredibly hard to pull this event together with the help of their team and the Catalina buzz is building as the Coast Hotel fills up with teams and the car park outside fills up with the enormous boats and support vehicles. If you’ve never been to Catalina, it really is one of a kind.

Unfortunately there will be no Jumboscreen or Live Internet Broadcast this year. However the best ever Catalina Race DVD will be on sale. I’ll be directing one of the choppers with a professional cameraman on board. DVD producer Jeff Barrus also has cameras along the shore, in boats and on skiers and this wil be the first time that the race will be filmed in High Definition. So make sure you get your order in for what promises to be one amazing race DVD. Details on how to order will be published as soon as they are available.
