The Tasman Challenge

Brad Dutton writes …The Tasman Challenge was held in Metung Victoria, Australia over the weekend. This is an annual Junior Challenge between Victoria (Australia) and New Zealand Under 19 Teams. There are 8 classes contested each day (4 Boys, 4 Girls divisions) over 2 days of racing. 16 races in all where you can drop your worst 2 results.

Both teams won 4 classes each for the weekend but the New Zealand Team consisting of Paul Mitchell, Jaaron Fritz, Hannah Humphreys, Jordan Bradley, Michael Witheford, Adelaide Cox, Marc Skipper and Georgia Skipper took victory by 144 points. It was a great build up for half of the NZ team who are only 3 weeks away from competing in the World Championships.

The NZ team have now 5 out of the last 6 of these events. This was a great way to send out a Legend of the sport and founder of the competition Mike Williams who retires as Manager of the team this year. The NZ team wishes to thank him for his dedication and hard work towards this team over the last 18 years.
