British Water Ski Racing Championships – Round 5

Stone ski club were hosts for the 5th round of the British Ski Racing Championships. With 2 races already cancelled it was imperative to the championship &  team selection for the world’s that the race went ahead.

Lyme Regis was the host for the 4th round of the British National Championships. Due to high winds & rough water the venue was unfortunately cancelled due to safety reasons.

British Water Ski Racing Championships – Round 3

Marnham hosted round 3 of the British Water Ski Racing Championships. Unlike any of the other races, Marnham is held on the River Trent.  Skiers are set off in 30 second intervals for the 80 mile round trip.

The official final presentation of the 2011 World Waterski Racing Championships will take place on site at Pelican Park.

Austria’s Martin Praschinger won Mens F1 at the final round of the European Cup Eguzon, France yesterday and Dave Vansteelant of Belgium took F2 honours. Britain’s Russell Cox won his 1st European Cup race in Seniors, with fellow countryman Rod Hawkins just 3 seconds adrift. You can see all the winners and full results here

2010 European Championships – Cadiz, Spain

10 Aug Update: The 2010 European Championships start on 21 August at Spain’s most Southern point – Cadiz. 130km south of Seville, Cadiz is said to be the most ancient city still standing in Western Europe and is packed with historic sights.

The European Championships follow the same format as a World Championships. 4 races for each category over a week or so. Updates will be available via the Twitter feed throughout the event.

The Blue Danube Race – Rnd 1 of 2010 European Cup

The Blue Danube Race is the 1st round of the 2010 European Cup and it takes place in the heart of Europe in the stunning city of Vienna. From 21 to 23 May, International teams will fight it out on the Danube River which is 2850 km long and passes through 10 countries.

Greg Bassam Wins 2009 Dr Wrap Award

The 2009 Dr Wrap Winner is Greg Bassam!

At the 2009 Worlds in Belgium, crossing over the bow of a fellow competitor’s boat Greg tripped and fell on to a highly polished deck and failed to gain a hold and consequently fell fully clothed into the canal.

In 1996, Dr Wrap entered the water ski racing world as the leading agony uncle for ski racers. He had a regular page in Britain’s Water Ski Racer magazine and dealt with the problems of everyone from novice to world champion. Who will be presented with this prestieous award tomorrow night in Oxfrd at the British Water Ski Racing Dinner & Dance? – there are many nominees!

Karl Brooks Memorial

At the closing ceremony of the 2008 European Water Ski Racing Championships, Karen and Martin Brooks collected an award on behalf of their son Karl Brooks, who was tragically lost in June 2007. EAME Racing Chairman Mike Waterman presented the award.

European Championships – starts this weekend

The 2008 European Water Ski Racing Championships are about to take place in the same format as in previous years, which is virtually identical to the World Championships. Most people arrive in Ramsgate GB on 4 July in readiness for the opening ceremony on Saturday and the first of four rounds of racing over the course of a week kicking off on Sunday.

Diamond Race- Interviews & Racing Videos & Results

After almost 3000 plays of the Racing video in less than 24 hrs, I’ve also now published a 10 minute ‘interviews & presentations’ video from the Diamond Race where 2005 World Champions Todd Haig and Kim Lumley secured well deserved wins. We’ve just arrived in Belgium for a weekend of racing and festivities at Viersel. Of course it’s the Diamond Race where almost 90 teams will arrive today and tomorrow from all over the world. This is also Round 2 of the 2008 European Cup. You can watch a 10 minute video of the racing online at skirace.net on Monday or Tuesday. Vienna Video & Results

On Monday I returned from the first round of the 2008 European Cup in Vienna where Austria hosted a superb event and over 60 teams teams from Europe, USA and Australia enjoyed a tremendous day’s racing on the River Danube in glorious 31’c sunshine.
